Valet parking

All major airports, such as Newark Airport and JFK Airport, offer a valet parking service. You may be wondering, how does valet parking work? What are the pros and cons?

What is valet parking?

The biggest difference between valet parking and self-parking is with valet, you don’t have to park your car yourself. You just drive to the parking lot and hand over your car to a valet, who will park it for you, saving you time. Depending on the facility, you may have to leave your car keys. For more information, please check the profile of the parking provider..

Some parking lots offer a curbside valet service. In this case, the valet meets you at the terminal to pick up your car at departure and deliver it upon arrival. During your trip, your car will be securely parked at the provider’s parking lot. If a parking provider offers this service, it will be explicitly mentioned under their profile.

How does it work?

Step 1. Make a reservation

Book your valet parking on the Parkos website, where you can easily compare rates with different providers. You’ll receive a confirmation email with clear instructions within a few minutes.

Step 2. Follow arrival instructions

When you arrive at the parking lot, please follow the instructions provided in your confirmation email, as some might require checking in before handing over your vehicle to the valet.

Step 3. Leave your car with the valet

Before handing over your vehicle, you and the attendant will check your car for any damage to prevent any potential misunderstandings later. The valet will take your car keys and park your vehicle while you prepare to board the airport shuttle.

Step 4. Collect your car from the valet

The process to collect your car is very similar to self-parking. The moment you arrive back at the airport, call the parking dispatch. As soon as they know your plane landed, a shuttle will promptly pick you up and take you back to the parking lot, where you’ll check out and inspect your vehicle.

What are the pros and cons?

Pros
  • You’ll save time when arriving at the parking lot.
  • You won't have to carry heavy bags or walk too far from your car to the shuttle bus.

Cons
  • You won’t be able to see where and how your car is being parked, so you’ll need to put your trust in the parking provider and valet.
